The Village Inn

We had a great time at our inaugural gig at the Village Inn in Chippewa Lake, Ohio on Friday, April 12, 2024. It was really good to see so many family and friends (and folks we didn’t know!) come out to support us and enjoy a night of music and good food. We’re thankful that Suzanne & Lexus allowed us to share our gifts with the good patrons of the Village.

It was so encouraging to hear all of the positive feedback from folks who were both familiar to us and strangers. It’s always great to see people singing along – it’s a validation that our eclectic music tastes are shared by others too! You can just see the “that’s my jam!” in their faces with every lyric being mouthed.

I (Lindsay) was incredibly nervous to play ukulele on the handful of songs I’d prepared to play as it was my first time doing so in front of people. I have an incredibly high standard to live up to in that Jim is so talented on guitar that a newer instrumentalist like me has a long way to go, but he’s so encouraging and patient with me that I can’t help but improve. I did learn that if I’m challenged at all by a thing *not* in front of people, then once I am in front of people, it’ll be darned near impossible, so I know now to practice until it’s automatic!

Photos and videos from friends and family are a delight to see!

We ended the night with a bang – we’d run out of prepared music so went off-list and did some requests – a couple Led Zeppelin tunes, a bit of Jackson Browne and Tom Petty and were having a blast with the 10 or so folks who gathered around to sing along until mid-chorus of Last Dance with Mary Jane, the power went out! We packed up in the semi-dark and decided that at least it was memorable!
